Mother Teresa’s beatification to be b’casted

Mother Teresa’s beatification ceremony in the Vatican on Oct. 19 will be broadcast worldwide via Italo state pubcaster RAI in co-operation with the Vatican Television Center and co-ordinated by the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, it was announced Thursday.

Mother Teresa, born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, will formally be known as Blessed Teresa of Kolkata. The beatification was approved after a Vatican commission recognized the 1998 healing of Bengali tribal woman Monika Besra as a miracle.

The telecast will be available in Europe through the European Broadcasting Union-Eurovision, in parts of Latin America it will be available through Panamsat and in the rest of the world through Intelsat.
