D’oh!The BBC News web site is conducting an admittedly unscientific online poll asking Netizens who they consider to be the greatest American. In the lead? Homer Simpson, with 29.4% of the almost 13,000 votes cast by late last week. Others on the short list include Abraham Lincoln, who was second with 12.8% of the vote, and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., third with 11.9%. The poll was unveiled to hype a 90-minute debate, “What the World Thinks of America,” which will be aired in 11 countries on June 17. If Homer holds on to the lead, one would think it’s pretty obvious what the world thinks of America.
