Dosti named senior veep, dev't & current

HOLLYWOOD — Imagine Television has tapped industry vet Sonja Piper Dosti senior VP of development and current programming.

Dosti, who most recently headed up drama development at UPN, will work with Imagine TV topper David Nevins to develop new comedies and dramas, while also overseeing the studio’s interests in existing skeins such as “24.” She replaces Jennifer Robinson, who has ankled the studio to pursue a feature career following the sale of a script to Imagine’s film division.

Move reps a homecoming for Dosti, who spent two years as VP of development and current at Imagine under former topper Tony Krantz. During her tenure at the studio, she oversaw production of skeins such as “Sports Night” and “Felicity.”

Nevins called Dosti “one of the top developers out there.”

“She has a fantastic reputation with writers, and I feel very lucky to have her,” he said. “She has both a TV and feature background, and she’s just a very skilled and nuanced developer.”

During her year at UPN, Dosti developed the netlet’s buzzworthy fall hour “Jake 2.0.” Before that, she was based at Universal Network Television, where as head of drama programming she oversaw development of “American Dreams” and the Eye’s “Robbery Homicide Division.”

Before getting into television, Dosti was a creative exec at Disney, working on pics such as “The Negotiator” and “The Horse Whisperer.”
