BUENOS AIRES — Uruguayan helmer Adrian Caetano is following up his freshman TV drama “Los tumberos,” one of last year’s hottest shows in Argentina, with “Disputas” (Disputes), a dramatic comedy about prostitutes.
Broadcaster Telefe, owned by Telefonica’s Admira, began airing the 13-episode mini May 22. Marcelo Tinelli’s indie production company Ideas del Sur Producciones, behind popular variety show “El show de videomatch” (The Videomatch Show), is producing. “Disputas” is expected to equal the success of prison drama “Tumberos,” produced last year by Ideas del Sur for fourth-ranked America TV.
Caetano’s excursion into TV follows three features. His last, “Un oso rojo” (A Red Bear), about a murder’s life after prison, was the fifth most watched domestic film here last year, with about 170,000 admissions.
