Grade makes director at SMG

Singer steps down to join Ofcom

Michael Grade, a former boss of U.K. web Channel 4, is replacing Adam Singer, a non-executive director at Scottish Media Group, one of commercial web ITV’s smaller shareholders and owner of Scottish TV, Grampian TV and Virgin Radio.

Singer, the former chief of U.K. cable operator Telewest, joined SMG in 1995 and will step down in September to join the content board of super-regulator Ofcom.

SMG’s place in British TV hangs in the balance as the watchdog Competi-tion Commission considers whether to let Carlton and Granada merge to create a single ITV.
