MADRID — William Baldwin and Ellen Pompeo are toplining the thriller “Art Heist,” the second film in Barcelona-based DrimTim Ent.’s production line of upscale English-lingo TV movies aimed at the international market.
Directed by Brian Goeres, the film began four weeks of principal photography July 14 in Barcelona.
Jacques Haitkin will handle cinematography, while Paul G. Volk will direct the pic’s second unit. Goeres, Haitkin and Volk teamed on DrimTim’s first TV movie, “Face of Terror,” which starred Rick Shroeder and Eric Balfour.
As “Terror,” “Heist” will combine key U.S. above-the-line talent, with Barcelona locations and a Spanish cast and crew, said exec producer Manuel Corbi.
In “Art Heist” Pompeo plays Sandra, an American art expert who leaves her New Jersey home, daughter and on-the-rocks marriage to investigate a series of art robberies in Barcelona at the behest of an old flame, art historian Daniel (Catalan thesp Abel Folk) .
Baldwin plays her estranged cop husband who follows her to Barcelona.
DrimTim will finance the movie with minority participation from Catalan pubcaster TV3.
“Art Heist” will receive its market preem at next Feb.’s American Film Market, said Corbi.
