Fremantle taps Honig for North America

Sales exec repped other distribs in U.S.

LONDON –- Lisa Honig has been appointed vice president for the U.S., and Canada at U.K. TV distrib Fremantle International Distribution.

In her new role, Honig will be responsible for the sale of FID’s programming to the U.S. — excluding Spanish-speaking U.S., which is handled by Sheila Hall Aguirre –- and Canada. Honig will work closely with other members of FID’s sales team based in the U.K., Latin America, Australasia, and Germany, and with its other support divisions located in London.

She will report to David Ellender, managing director of FID and will be based in the company’s New York office.

Honig has worked as a consultant for a number of clients across the television industry, including FID. Most recently she has focused on the distribution of European and other overseas programming in North America as well as developing U.S. originated programming for the States.

Between 1999-2002, Honig worked for EuroArts, distribber of music and the arts. Honig established a U.S. subsidiary for the company, and was responsible for program acquisitions and co-productions in North America.

Honig joined EuroArts from Primetime Entertainment, a U.K. indie prodco and distribber, where she was director, North American sales and acquisitions between 1993-1999. Based in New York, Honig marketed and sold documentaries, dramas, music, children’s and animated shows and series for the company. She also sought out new product for distribution — negotiating, packaging and co-producing

television projects with U.S. cable companies, including BET on Jazz, TLC, A&E and HBO and indie producers from the U.S., Germany and the U.K.
