‘ER’s 200th scores for NBC

Morning Ratings Flash - Rick Kissell

Powered by the 200th episode of “ER,” NBC notched another demo victory on the third Thursday of the May sweep, capturing the night easily in adults 18-49, 25-54 and 18-34, according to preliminary nationals from Nielsen. CBS and NBC were in a virtual tie for the night’s lead in total viewers.

“ER” (10.5/27 in adults 18-49, 22.1 million viewers overall) matched its best rating since Jan. 30 and was the evening’s top program in all key demos. The medical drama beat competing CBS drama “Without a Trace” (4.7/12 in adults 18-49, 14.9 million viewers overall) by 123% in the demo.

Original and repeat episodes of NBC’s “Friends” combined to win the 8 o’clock hour in adults 18-49 (9.0/25) and other demos, although CBS’ “Survivor” (7.0/20 in adults 18-49, 19.1 million viewers overall) inched ahead in total viewers. The reality adventure show, which wraps its season with a two-hour finale on Sunday, led its hour in men 25-54

From 9 to 10, CBS drama “CSI” (8.9/22 in adults 18-49, 24.8 million viewers overall) finished in a virtual demo tie with NBC’s combo of “Friends” and “Will & Grace.” Individual program ratings for NBC’s comedies are sketchy, as they started at irregular times. “CSI” easily led the hour in total viewers and adults 25-54, while the Peacock’s laffers were the convincing choice among the 18-34 set.

ABC did OK from 9 to 11 with its “Primetime” spec on the scandal involving the U.K. version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” (3.1/8 in adults 18-49, 8.5 million viewers overall), growing with each half-hour.

Fox laid down like a dog with its “Miss Dog Beauty Pageant” (2.0/6 in adults 18-49) and newsmag “The Pulse” (1.5/4).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night:

In total viewers: CBS (19.6 million) edged NBC (19.5 million).
