Discovery Health Network will preem “SARS: Deadly Epidemic,” a one-hour docu tracing the origin and spread of the disease.
Program explores the first-known case of SARS and specifics of the disease’s progression, primarily through interviews with scientists affiliated with the World Health Organization.
Doc was co-produced with BBC’s Horizon Strand out of Gotham.
“I think of this program as a compelling detective story about a disease many people don’t really understand,” said executive producer Mark Poertner. “It sets the stage for how the world health community would deal with something as deadly as SARS in the future.”
Doc will air Wednesday at 10 p.m.
In other timely current event programming, Discover has slated “Lifeline: Hospital Ship at War,” an hourlong spec about the USNS Comfort, the largest floating hospital bringing medical aid to those wounded in “Operation Iraqi Freedom.”
Doc will air today at 10 p.m.
