Morning Ratings Flash - Rick Kissell

A dominant perf by “CSI: Miami” helped CBS rack up a victory on the opening Monday of the May sweep, according to preliminary nationals from Nielsen. NBC was a strong second, boosted by the season finale of “Third Watch,” while Fox’s “Mr. Personality” took a backward slide in its second outing.

“CSI: Miami” (6.4/16 in adults 18-49, 17.1 million viewers overall) was the top-rated program of the night in the 18-49 demo, with the Eye’s “Everybody Loves Raymond” (5.8/15 in adults 18-49, 17.8 million viewers overall) not far behind. CBS comedies “King of Queens” (4.0/12), “Yes, Dear” (4.2/12) and “Still Standing” (4.8/12) all placed second in 18-49.

“Raymond” was the evening’s most-watched program overall.

At NBC, “Third Watch” (5.0/12 in adults 18-49, 12.7 million viewers overall) was No. 2 for the 9 o’clock hour in 18-49, moving ahead of CBS’ “Still Standing” at 9:30, and won its full hour among men 18-49 (4.2/11). “Fear Factor” (5.1/15 in adults 18-49, 12.2 million viewers overall) led the 8 o’clock hour in key demos, while “Crossing Jordan” (3.9/10 in adults 18-49, 10.3 million viewers overall) ran second at 10.

Fox’s “Mr. Personality” (3.7/9 in adults 18-49, 7.6 million viewers overall) fell to third among 18-49 in the 9 p.m. hour but remained No. 1 among adults 18-34 (4.4/12). It lost more than one-third of its preem audience, when it ran behind a special “American Idol.” At 8, “Boston Public” returned with unimpressive scores (2.9/9 in adults 18-49, 7.6 million viewers overall).

ABC was above average but still fourth on the night with a “Bloopers” spec at 8 (2.8/8 in adults 18-49, 9.4 million viewers overall) and the preem of theatrical “Charlie’s Angels” (2.9/7 in adults 18-49, 8.1 million viewers overall).
