MADRID — TV exec Maurizio Carlotti, former managing director of Spanish broadcaster Telecinco and CEO of Italo Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s Mediaset, has been named CEO of Telecinco rival Antena 3.
The appointment follows the acquisition of a controlling 25.1% interest in A3 by Spain’s Planeta Group and Italy’s DeAgostini Group in April. The stake was sold by Spanish telco Telefonica as part of its withdrawal from the media sector.
Planeta CEO Jose Manuel Lara Bosch is A3 prexy. Carlotti will oversee the day-to-day management and lay down its new game plan.
