HOLLYWOOD — Cartoon Network is getting wet again, ordering 13 episodes of “The Venture Brothers” for its Sunday night Adult Swim programming block beginning in March.
Created by Jackson Publick, half-hour comedy skein follows two dimwitted brothers, their scientist father and his muscular bodyguard. Pilot, which aired in February to good ratings, will rerun on July 27.
” ‘The Venture Brothers’ is a wickedly funny show. … It draws from classics like the Hardy Boys, the ‘Batman’ live-action series and, of course, ‘Johnny Quest,’ but with a modern, wry sensibility,” says Mike Lazzo, Cartoon Network senior VP.
Cabler’s successful Adult Swim block runs 11 p.m.-2 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.
Gotham-based Noodlesoup Prods. will produce.
