HOLLYWOOD — Animal Planet has greenlit the hourlong kiddie skein “Animal Kidding,” hosted by comedian-thesp Dave Coulier (“Full House”).
“Kidding” is a co-prod of LMNO Prods. and the cable net. Eric Schotz, Bill Paolantonio and Alexandra Bennett will exec produce.
Net has ordered 16 episodes of the series, including a two-hour season finale.
“Kids and animals will never go out of style. It will always be funny and unpredictable,” Schotz said. “No matter what we plan for or write down, we always get a wild card, which is the whole point of the show.”
Variety show explores child-animal relationships in a series of taped segs, featuring interviews, hidden camera segments, pet tricks and light-hearted pranks. Kids will debate the age-old conundrums “Why does a dog chase his tail?” and “Why can’t chickens fly?” and interact with such animals as talking sheep and psychic ponies.
Production on the primetime show, bowing at 9 p.m. July 18, began in March.
Animal Planet is available in 81 million homes.
