LONDON – Nicholas Hoult, who starred alongside Hugh Grant in “About A Boy,” is to play the lead in “Star,” a new original series commissioned for ITV’s children’s block CiTV.“Star” follows the life of Bradley Fisher, an average 12-year-old schoolboy, except he’s the number one movie star of the day – a teen icon with £20 million ($33 million) in the bank. The original 13-episode live action comedy starts production in June. Brit primetime comedy writer and cartoonist Mark Grant (“Perfect World”) created the series and will write seven of the 13 episodes. “Star” is being co-financed by Tiger Aspects and MTV Networks International. Tiger Aspect’s Philippa Cott will produce with Christopher Skala and Claudia Lloyd on board as exec producers.
