3 series headed to Noggin

Some Nick Jr. shows also land on cabler's sked

As part of its preschool education mandate, kiddie cabler Noggin has added three series to its slate.

Shows “Oobi,” “Tweenies” and “Miffy and Friends” will all launch April 7. To promote the entries, skeins will also be featured that day on sibling net Nickelodeon’s Nick Jr. block.

Both “Tweenies” and “Miffy and Friends” have already bowed overseas. Based on an award-winning series of shorts, original skein “Oobi” takes place in a world of bare hand puppets.

Revamped Noggin hopes to position itself as “preschool on TV” with programs and interstitials to keep young kids engaged and learning.

Nick Jr. favorites “Bob the Builder,” “Dora the Explorer” and “Oswald” will also land on Noggin afternoon sked under the banner “Nick Jr. on Noggin.”

Last year, Nickelodeon bought out Sesame Workshop’s stake in Noggin. Commercial-free cabler offers a preschool block in the morning and tween block “the N” after 6 p.m.

Noggin is now carried in 30 million homes.
