Capitalizing on a hot hip-hop market, Nickelodeon is launching live-action comedy series “Romeo!,” which stars rappers Master P and his 13-year-old son, Lil’ Romeo.
“Romeo!,” which is signed for 20 episodes, will debut Sept. 13.
Two years ago, Lil’ Romeo became the youngest solo artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 since Michael Jackson and his latest album, “Game Time,” reached No. 33 on the charts.
Master P has sold more than 50 million records since 1994, and scored crossover credits in film and television.
“Romeo!” tracks the life of a music industry honcho and single dad (Master P) who tries to maintain a normal life for the family band.
“We keep raising our creative bar and this new season will propel us further forward on behalf of kids,” says Nick exec VP-G.M. Cyma Zarghami.
Skein also stars “Saturday Night Live” alum Victoria Jackson as the family’s nanny.
“Romeo!” was co-created by Master P and is executive produced by Tom Lynch and Fracaswell Hyman.
