Jones takes shot at latenight talker

Show features sketch comedy, reality, animation

Will he be Jay or Chevy? Dave or Magic?

Orlando Jones, best known to many as the pitchman for 7-Up, is the latest to take a crack as latenight host with his own talkshow beginning June 16 on FX. Set to air at 11 p.m., self-titled show will get a half-hour head start on the major broadcast competish.

Forgoing the usual talkshow format, Jones will take a pass on performing a monologue and instead his show will consist of sketch comedy, reality and animation.

Eddie Feldmann, who exec produced “Dennis Miller Live” on HBO, will serve in the same capacity for Jones. Erwin Stoff will also serve as exec producer.

Musical director is Dallas Austin, who has produced albums for Madonna, TLC and Boyz II Men.

Jones, 35, has appeared in several films, including “Drumline,” “The Time Machine” and will be seen later this year in the upcoming drama “The Runaway Jury,” based on the John Grisham novel.
