TNT’s summer sizzler is “Caesar,” the big-budget saga of Roman emperor Julius’ climb to power. The four-hour, two-night miniseries debuts June 29.
“We’re on a roll right now, between the NBA playoffs and a lot of other programming,” says Michael Wright, TNT’s senior VP of movies and miniseries.
“Caesar’s” cast includes Jeremy Sisto (“Six Feet Under”) in the title role. Oscar-nominated thesps Richard Harris and Christopher Walken portray two of Caesar’s adversaries, general-turned-dictator Lucius Cornelius Sulla and senator Cato the Younger, respectively.
Chris Noth is ally-turned-rival general Pompey, and Valerie Golino plays Caeser’s third wife, Calpurnia.
Shot on location in Prague, “Caesar” was directed by Uli Edel from a script by Peter Pruce and Craig Warner. Lorenzo Minoli, Guido de Angelis and Russell Kagan are exec producers.
