HOLLYWOOD — Patrick Dempsey, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Brad Rowe have come aboard to star in the ABC Family telefilm “Lucky 7.”
Pic is the second of three original features skedded to preem on the cabler this summer. “This Time Around” bows in June, and “See Jane Date,” based on the novel by Melissa Senate, is set for August. Casting has not yet been firmed up for “Jane.”
“Lucky 7,” which Williams-Paisley will also co-produce, is slated to air in July. Production begins Wednesday in Victoria, B.C.
The film follows a woman (Williams-Paisley) who is searching for the man of her dreams; only she has been raised to believe — by a timeline left from her late mother — that she can’t marry until she finds love for the seventh time. The problem is that she is in love with beau No. 6 (Rowe). Now she must find a substitute No. 6 (Dempsey) or break free from the plan that has kept her mother’s memory close.
Lions Gate Entertainment will produce the project. Jessica Barondes penned the script and Harry Winer (“Alias,” “Now and Again”) will direct. Judy Polone is executive producing.
Williams-Paisley, well-known for her gig as Steve Martin’s daughter in the “Father of the Bride” pics, co-stars on ABC’s “According to Jim.” In addition, thesp has inked a deal with Disney to lend her voice to the English subtitled version of Hayao Miyazaki’s toon feature “Porco Rosso.”
Dempsey, who starred opposite Reese Witherspoon in “Sweet Home Alabama,” toplines the “About a Boy” pilot for Fox. Rowe’s credits include the NBC series “Leap of Faith” and theatrical “Billy’s Hollywood Screen Kiss.”
