‘Jeepers’ creeps out preem

Adee happy to follow in 'Freddy's' wake

HOLLYWOOD — The summer preem season ended on a horrifying note Monday night, when “Jeepers Creepers 2” made its frightful bow at the Egyptian.

MGM marketing chief Peter Adee said he was happy to follow in the mighty wake of “Freddy vs. Jason” because “the audience was satisfied by that film.”

He called “Freddy vs. Jason” an impulse buy and added, “We want to be their next buy.”

Exec producer Bobby Rock said director Victor Salva had told him his concept for “Jeepers 2” was “Moby Dick” meets Hitchcock’s “Lifeboat,” but in a horror mode. While the genre mixing might give some producers reason to pause, “I said, ‘Victor, we have full confidence in you,’ ” recalled Rock.

Among those at the Egyptian were MGM’s Chris McGurk; Salva; stars Ray Wise, Jonathan Breck, Travis Schiffner, Al Santos, Eric Nenninger, Nicki Aycox and Marieh Delfino; plus guests Andy Dick, Christopher Lloyd, Steve Stabler, Steven Fenton and Lesley-Anne Down.
