HOLLYWOOD — The term “Hollywood heavyweight” took on a whole new meaning July 16, when the world’s best athletes and some of their best known fans converged on the Kodak Theater for the ESPY Awards, then dispersed to back to back after parties.
ESPN kudocast hosted by “Any Given Sunday” thesp Jamie Foxx, honored athletes from al major professionall sports, as well as college and high school stars.
ESPN continued the post-kudos festivities at the nearby Highlands nightclub, where legendary basketball star Julius “Dr. J” Erving was among those holding court. The hardiest revelers headed to Foxx’s after-after bash at the Skybar. Among those in the crowd: jock turned commentator Bill Walton, and star athletes Kobe Bryant (all smiles despite his legal woes), Barry Bonds, Wimbledon victor Serena Williams, Roy Jones Jr., Michael Vick and new NBA darling LeBron James, plus sports fans such as Kiefer Sutherland, Jimmy Kimmel, Brandy and Lara Flynn Boyle.
