Sam A. Scribner, screenwriter whose feature credits include “Delta Heat” and “Criminal Mind,” died of cancer July 17 in Santa Rosa, Calif. He was 54.

Writer was also a teacher and national lecturer who served as creative director of the San Francisco Screenwriters Org and wrote offbeat stories containing quirky character developments. He was in the process of writing a book titled “I Can Write a Better Screen Play Than That: And How to Do It From a Barca Lounger.” He was remembered for having a mischievous sense of humor.

He is survived by wife Pamm.
