Philip Jones — director, writer, producer and president of a post-production company — died at his San Fernando Valley home March 9 after a battle with cancer. He was 39.
A native of Farmington, Mich., Philip was bitten by the entertainment bug at an early age while working in a local comic book store and serving as a production assistant on Sam Raimi films as a teen.
In Hollywood he launched a successful post-production facility and was also a founding partner of a production and sales company in Burbank, Calif.
In 2000, he directed, produced and wrote the indie thriller “Backflash,” starring Robert Patrick and Jennifer Esposito. He recently completed another indie film, “Hellborn,” set for release this summer.
He is survived by his wife of eight years, Corri; their two children; his parents; and three sisters. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crohns & Colitis Foundation at 3701 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 1120, Los Angeles, CA 90010
