Patrick Campbell, longtime actor best known as the chicken man in Aames Home Loan commercials, died May 30 of respiratory failure in Covina, Calif. He was 78.

Waukegan, Ill., native served in the Army during World War II. He started his acting career at the Gellar Theatre Workshop and moved on to the Pasadena Playhouse, where he did five plays and continued to be an associate member.

He had numerous roles in episodic TV, including appearances on “Mission Impossible,” “Dallas,” “All in the Family” and “My Three Sons,” as well as multiple roles on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” Campbell also worked in numerous films.

He is survived by two children and three grandchildren.
