Veteran publicist Jeri B. Held died Monday at UCSD Medical Center in San Diego. She was 51.

Held was a senior public relations executive for several firms, including Lorimar Film Entertainment, Weintraub Entertainment Group and Castle Rock Entertainment. She most recently was president of FeatureMedia, a film, literary and entertainment company based in Carlsbad, Calif., where she had lived since 1998.

Born in Bronxville, N.Y., Held attended Babson College and George Washington U. and received her B.A. from Skidmore College.

During her 30 years as a publicist, she handled projects including “Hands Across America,” “The Beach Boys Concert on the Mall” and several projects for Washington, D.C.’s Corcoran Gallery of Art. She directed campaigns for films including “A Few Good Men,” “When Harry Met Sally” and “City Slickers.”

Held also worked in Washington, D.C., where she was a partner in Eisner, Held & Petrou and also worked for Abramson Associates.

A 1995 liver transplant patient, she donated time to the National Liver Foundation. She was vice chairman of the Carlsbad Arts Commission and was active in the San Diego chapters of Girls Inc. and the Encinitas Artist Colony 101.

Held is survived by her mother, Renee Held of Carlsbad; two sisters; and a niece and nephew.
