Janjigian named sr. VP amid MGM PR revamp

Exec will work with MPAA on legislative issues

HOLLYWOOD — MGM has formally announced former broadcast producer Janet Janjigian as a senior VP of corporate communications.

Reporting to Joe Fitzgerald, exec VP of investor relations and corporate communications, Janjigian will assist in coordinating corporate communications throughout the Century City-based company. She also will work closely with the MPAA on legislative issues.

Janjigian has actually been at the Lion for several months, and the official announcement of her hiring marks a modest restructuring in the studio’s corporate communications department following the departure of longtime MGM communications exec Lea Porteneuve last month. MGM will soon also formally announce the recent hiring of David Bloom, a former reporter at Daily Variety and other business news publications.

Janjigian worked in investigative news at NBC, where she was a senior producer for “NBC News” and producer for “NBC Nightly News With Tom Brokaw.” She is also a former producer at “CNN Newsstand” and previously worked for ABC’s “Nightline.”

“Her expertise will be extremely valuable to us in a wide range of external and internal communications initiatives,” Fitzgerald said.
