Gustavo Basalo-Sucre, former managing director of international network development for Hearst Entertainment & Syndication, died Oct. 30 in Miami of undisclosed causes. He was 45.

A Venezuelan native, Basalo-Sucre spent his career developing TV series and specials for the Spanish-speaking world. Before joining Hearst, he was general manager of the Locomotion Channel, where he guided the launch of the cartoon-themed network for Latin America, Iberia and Brazil.

Previously, he was managing director of development for the launch of the Cisneros Television Group, and vice president of worldwide sales and marketing for Coral Pictures Corp., where he helped establish the telenovela as an international format. He was also managing vice president of programming and production for Radio Caracas Television in Venezuela.

He is survived by his parents, a brother and a niece.
