Dolores Finlay, longtime TV publicist and active member of many industry orgs, died Aug. 12 in Hollywood. She had recently suffered two broken hips and had complications of diabetes. She was 72.

For many years, Finlay was publicity director for KHJ-TV Channel 9 in Los Angeles. Prior to that, she headed the press relations department at KNBC Channel 4 and was a publicist for 20th Century Fox Television.

Finlay was active in the Hollywood Women’s Press Club, often involved in that group’s annual Golden Apple Awards. She also aided the Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign for several years.

In recent years, she had begun a career in commercials, and was attending acting and voiceover classes.

A Southern California native, Finlay grew up in Redondo Beach, graduated from El Camino College and attended USC. She lived in Hollywood for more than 50 years.

There are no survivors.

A memorial service is scheduled for October, date and place to be announced.
