Rainbow reshuffles after exec exodus

Dore, Greenberg get presidential posts

NEW YORK — Rainbow Media began repopulating its executive suites this week — promoting two top execs at the corporate level — after the departure of more than a dozen staffers last month amid an accounting scandal at Rainbow cable net AMC.

The Cablevision unit tapped current IFC Cos. topper Kathleen Dore prexy of entertainment services. Dore will have managerial responsibility for AMC and WE: Women’s Entertainment as well as IFC.

Also getting a bump up was Andrea Greenberg, who was named prexy of distribution — adding to her current oversight of Rainbow’s sports division.

Greenberg’s expanded brief will include running the recently consolidated affiliate sales and marketing arms for the company’s national networks, encompassing American Movie Classics, musicvid channel Fuse, Independent Film Channel and WE — plus Rainbow’s constellation of on-demand channels.

Both execs have a considerable pedigree at Rainbow.

Dore, who joined the company in 1982, was head of its Bravo cable network for six years, until it was sold to NBC in late 2002. Greenberg has run Rainbow Sports Networks for the past four years, working her way up since signing on in 1983.

Rainbow was hit with accounting troubles in June, when it was revealed that AMC staffers had improperly accounted for expenses and other items to the tune of more than $6 million. Company fired 14 employees and was widely expected to tap execs from elsewhere in the network group to pick up some of the slack.

Cablevision is under especially heavy pressure to avoid PR troubles at Rainbow, as it has pledged the cable programming division as part of a joint bid with former Seagram boss Edgar Bronfman Jr. to acquire the entertainment assets of Vivendi Universal.
