Production has been interrupted on Roseanne Barr’s upcoming ABC Family series as the comedian plans to undergo a hysterectomy operation next week.
“The Domestic Goddess Hour,” a companion piece to Barr’s ABC reality skein “The Real Roseanne Show,” was slated to launch Sept. 20 on the cable network. Exec producer R.J. Cutler told insiders Wednesday it was too soon to tell whether the show would make its delivery date; it’s very likely the show will now be pushed.
Barr’s work on “Domestic Goddess Hour” won’t likely resume for several weeks, given the nature of her surgery.
Move also comes as ABC Family and the show’s producers work to broaden the focus of “The Domestic Goddess Hour.” The primetime show, which has a 13-episode order, was originally developed as a food-centric variety show. The cabler is now looking to focus more on its talkshow elements and less on cooking.
Barr’s “The Real Roseanne Show,” meanwhile, had bowed to lukewarm results on ABC.
