Adam Shaw has joined the fledgling NFL Network as senior VP of distribution.
Shaw, most recently senior VP of business operations and finance for FX Networks, will establish and service carriage agreements with cable operators as the all-pigskin cabler looks to expand beyond the 11.4 million homes already set to receive the net via DirecTV. He’ll also lead affiliate sales and affiliate relations.
Exec will report to NFL Network prexy-CEO Steve Bornstein, who announced the hiring Wednesday.
“Adam has done a tremendous job for the better part of a decade building the Fox cable channels,” Bornstein said. “We expect his expertise to be pivotal in developing the distribution of the NFL Network and NFL video-on-demand opportunities.”
NFL Network, like the NBA’s own cabler, will air year-round coverage of all things NFL and football.
In his FX gig, Shaw worked at both FX and Fox Cable Networks. He helped launch new businesses and evaluated corporate investments, including the creation of the National Geographic Channel and the acquisition of Speed Channel.
He previously served as VP of affil sales for Fox Cable Networks. His other pigskin experience includes a stint on the Yale U. football team.
