Richard Samuels has been tapped senior VP and managing director, Asia Pacific, replacing longtime vet Tom Warne, who is retiring after 13 years with 20th Century Fox and 50 years in the Australian media industry.
In his new role, Samuels will be responsible for overseeing 20th Century Fox’s TV sales in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
Based in Sydney, Samuels, who has been with the company since 1994, is being promoted from his current position as VP of sales, Asia.
“Richard has made significant contributions to the company over the last nine years and his dedication and vision have led to the establishment of several successful new ventures with leading broadcasters. We are delighted to recognize his talents with this promotion,” said Mark Kaner, president of international TV and worldwide pay TV for the studio.
“I am very thankful to have worked with Tom Warne, who is one of the legends of our industry. I’m very excited about the new challenges ahead and I look forward to growing the business and working with our partners around the region,” Samuels added.
Samuels has devoted a number of years to working in the field of TV sales distribution. He joined Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution in 1994 as director of sales after coming to Australia from the U.K. to establish a regional office for Canada’s Atlantis, now known as Alliance Atlantis. Prior to that, he worked in sales for several prominent British companies including Granada TV.
