NEW YORK — Veteran TV director Alan Myerson has signed on to direct WE original series “The Tinsley Bumble Show.”
Series, now in pre-production, follows a New York society girl who falls on hard times after her father is arrested for a white-collar crime. Story will be told through the point of view of her younger brother, an aspiring filmmaker documenting her life. Rebecca Johnson will star as title character.
Half-hour comedy will use a combination of script and improvisation, an aspect that appealed to Myerson. Shot with a single camera, many of the scenes will consist of one long take. “The staging challenges are fascinating because I have to make sure every good joke is on camera,” said Myerson.
Helmer’s credits include “Friends,” “The Larry Sanders Show” and “Welcome Back, Kotter.”
WE has committed to five episodes, with a possible reorder in January. Series will bow July 30.
