CNBC and NBC Studios have signed comedian Dennis Miller to an exclusive, multiyear deal to host and exec produce a nightly primetime talkshow.
Move follows January’s hiring of magazine maven Tina Brown, host of “Topic A With Tina Brown,” as the financial cabler tries to broaden its primetime offerings, which are typically driven by financial market news.
“Dennis’ blazing wit and razor sharp insights have made him one of the most provocative and noted voices of our time. We are thrilled that he has chosen CNBC as his new primetime home,” prexy-CEO Pamela Thomas-Graham said. “Our audience demands smart and sharp programming, and Dennis’ new show will more than deliver on those expectations.”
Topical hourlong, which will tape at Peacock’s Burbank studios, is expected to bow in January.
“With all that’s going on in the world today, it’s nice to have a nightly platform to air my opinions,” Miller said.
Miller most recently performed his Emmy-nommed HBO special “The Raw Feed” and was part of the announcing team for “NFL Monday Night Football.” Feature credits include “The Net” and “Joe Dirt.”
He also spent six years on “Saturday Night Live” and hosted HBO’s weekly talker “Dennis Miller Live,” which earned him five Emmys.
