The TV world was buzzing Monday with talk of the potential all-star producer pairing of former ABC Entertainment prexy Jamie Tarses and current NBC Entertainment exec VP Karey Burke.
With FX programming chief Kevin Reilly talking to NBC about a top-level gig at the Peacock, there’s been much speculation about the fate of several key execs at the net, including Burke. It’s not yet clear whether she’ll be staying or leaving, but at least one network and one studio have been informally approached about the idea of inking a production deal with a company headed by Burke and her former NBC colleague Tarses.
Tarses has maintained a low profile since her ABC days, most recently heading up development for James Burrows’ Three Sisters Entertainment.
Nonetheless, her reputation as a keen developer has remained intact. Likewise, Burke maintains excellent relations around town with both talent and execs.
Burke and Tarses didn’t return calls for comment last week, so it’s hard to say if the duo will actually plunge ahead with the idea of partnering. Considering their Peacock pedigree with skeins such as “Friends” and “Mad About You,” however, here’s a suggestion for what they could call their company: Must-See TV.
