Imax swapping debt for equity

Company's red ink drained to $178 million

TORONTO — Giant screen movie company Imax is exchanging $22 million in debt for 2.9 million newly issued common shares of the company.

Move will cut the company debt by about 20% to $178 million.

Imax has reduced its red ink by more than 40% in two years.
