Timothy Hutton has inked to star in Sci Fi Channel miniseries “5 Days to Midnight.”
He will play J.T. Neumeyer, a science professor who receives information from the future detailing his murder, which is to take place in five days.
Gage Golightly and Hamish Linklater (“Live From Baghdad”) also have joined the cast. Golightly will play the daughter of Hutton’s character; Linklater will play a student obsessed with him.
“Midnight” is set to premiere in second-quarter 2004. Cabler will strip the five-part thriller to coincide with the five days J.T. has to change his destiny.
Production will begin in Vancouver this month.
Lions Gate TV produces in association with David Kirschner Prods. and Hallmark Entertainment Distribution. Michael Watkins (“Las Vegas”) will direct from a script by Anthony Peckham (“Don’t Say a Word”), David Aaron Cohen (“The Devil’s Own”) and Cindy Meyers. Exec producers are Kirschner and Corey Sienega (who jointly did “Secondhand Lions”), Peckham and Cohen. Robert Zappia co-exec produces.
Hutton next stars in the feature “Secret Window, Secret Garden” opposite Johnny Depp. He last appeared in John Sayles’ “Sunshine State” and exec produced, directed and starred in “A Nero Wolfe Mystery” for A&E.
