See lineupHOLLYWOOD — The Screen Actors Guild has released a list of certified candidates for its upcoming elections, offering few surprises in the presidential race but several in the contest for 24 open seats on SAG’s national board of directors.

In an announcement late Friday evening, SAG made official the already widely known presidential candidacies of Gordon Drake, Kent McCord and incumbent prexy Melissa Gilbert. It also announced that Esai Morales (“NYPD Blue”), James Cromwell (“Six Feet Under”) and model-actress Barbara Cheeseborough were all running for the recently combined post of secretary/treasurer.

Leading the list of thesps seeking board seats is longtime “ER” star Eriq La Salle. Current SAG secretary Elliott Gould is also running for the board — and doing so against a wide field of candidates that include Rene Auberjonois and Loretta Swit.

In all, some 85 candidates are seeking two dozen seats on the board, with well-known Hollywood challengers including Tess Harper, George Coe, Michael Monks, Alan Rosenberg and John Saxon.

Seeking re-election

SAG Hollywood board incumbents Rebecca Bush, Suzanne Cryer, Dana Daurey, Trista Delamere, Robert David Hall, Patrick Kerr, Diane Ladd, Robert Duncan McNeill, Marcia Strassman and Vivicca Whitsett are all seeking re-election.

Meanwhile, in New York, Eileen Henry will face Erik-Anders Nilsson for the Gotahm division presidency, and New York division board incumbents Paul Christie, Gerald M. Kline, Sue-Anne Morrow, Cynthia Vance and Liz Zazzi are all running again, too.

Twelve seats are available on SAG’s Hollywood board, while its New York division has 17 candidates running for four open seats. The remaining eight available board seats will be elected from SAG branches outside New York. There are also 22 alternate slots open for the Hollywood board, and nine available for the New York board.

National officer ballots will be mailed to all eligible SAG members on Aug. 26, with a return deadline and tabulation on Sept. 23. The same schedule will apply to Hollywood and New York divisions. All elections will be concluded by Sept. 25.
