The Spanish know how to throw a fiesta. Filmax Entertainment underscored the point at its now traditional Cannes first-Saturday soiree held this year at the Villa Toscana, where it celebrated the company’s 50th anni.
There was something for everyone: femme fairy pole-dancers, Spanish eats, actors dressed in Saharan masks, a rottweiler — to celebrate Filmax’s upcoming film “Rottweiler,” by Brian Yuzna — and a male stripper covered by a decorous boa constrictor.
Filmax chairman Julio Fernandez and brother and company prexy Carlos Fernandez took an Excalibur-size sword to a four-tiered cake to mark Filmax’s half-century and thank the many friends for their support.
Among guests sampling the Catalan sparkling white wine or getting down to it on a poolside disco floor: Kevin Costner, Lions Gate’s Peter Block, Metropolitan’s Samuel Hadida, helmer Brad Anderson, Lakeshore’s Peter Rogers, Avi Lerner and Danny Dimbort, and Wild Side’s Manuel Chiche.
