NEW YORK — Dick Clark Prods. has given birth to a children’s division, Dick Clark Kids.
Clark’s daughter, Cindy, and media marketing exec Kelly Sole Holscher will head up the unit. Pair will be in charge of acquiring and developing projects for the arm. Holscher also will oversee marketing and distribution opportunities for the new shingle.
Burbank-based team will report to Jules Haimovitz, vice chairman of Dick Clark Prods., and chief operating officer Fran LaMaina.
“This is a logical extension of the Dick Clark brand,” Haimovitz said. “We feel there is room in the marketplace for new product that is both educational and entertaining for children of all ages.”
First title on young slate is preschool series “The CanBees.” Animated/live-action skein is skedded for a 2004 launch in home entertainment markets, expanding later into TV, publishing and games. Series, created by Holscher, teaches kids they can be anything they want to be.
Kids unit expects to announce another project within the year.
Cindy Clark is a feature and doc film producer who has produced TV projects for Fox, AMC, FX, TBS and the Disney Channel. Holscher is a 15-year vet of media sales and brand marketing who founded kiddie shingle Lukadoo.
Dick Clark Prods.’ credits include NBC drama “American Dreams” and a number of annual awards and entertainment specials.
