NEW YORK — BMG has tapped Christophe Lameignere for the newly created post of managing director at the music division at BMG France, reporting to international chief and interim president of the French unit Maarten Steinkamp.
In his new position, Lameignere will oversee the French division’s A&R, promotion and marketing duties, as well as catalog compilation. He’ll also be spearheading the integration of Zomba’s French operations into the BMG fold along with operating chief Christophe Waignier.
Lameignere hails from the Zomba side, having founded Zomba Records France in 1999, working with such local talent as Benabar, Priscilla and KYO, and marketing Zomba’s U.S. stars like Britney Spears and R. Kelly inside France.
Prior to joining Zomba, exec spent eight years at Sony Music France, eventually working his way up to managing director. He also held a senior A&R post at EMI Music Publishing, and has worked independently in artist management.
