HOLLYWOOD — Longtime Warner Music exec Deane Marcus has been named senior VP, operations, for BMG-owned Jive Records.

Marcus will oversee all finance and operations functions for Jive Records as well as all Zomba related labels, including Verity and Silvertone. He will also serve as Jive’s chief liaison with corporate parent BMG and help with oversight for Jive’s U.K. label. Marcus will report to Jive prexy Barry Weiss.

Since 1994, Marcus has been responsible for evaluating acquisitions, investments and other transactions in recorded music, music publishing and related businesses for Warner Music Group. As senior vice president, strategic planning and business development, he worked extensively with WMG’s labels and its music publishing company, Warner/Chappell Music, in structuring agreements with recording artists and songwriters.

In addition, Marcus was responsible for evaluating new media opportunities, including download and subscription services. Prior to WMG, Marcus worked for several years in the Investment Banking arena at Alpine Capital Group and Mabon Securities Corp.

Jive and its associated labels, Silvertone, Verity, Mojo, Volcano and Nick Records (a joint venture with Nickelodeon) are home to R. Kelly, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, ‘N Sync, Backstreet Boys, Nick Carter, Joe, Buddy Guy, Weird Al Yankovic and others.
