Oz music honors go to Chambers, AC/DC

'Not Pretty Enough' shines with three nods

See winnersSYDNEY — Country chanteuse Kasey Chambers staked her claim to the top of the pops and AC/DC was honored for service to Australia’s music biz Monday at an Australian Performing Rights Assn. event in Sydney.

Chambers’ single “Not Pretty Enough” collected song of the year, most performed work and country kudos.

Daniel Johns, the 24-year-old Silverchair frontman who is battling a crippling form of arthritis, was songwriter of the year, in part for the group’s “Diorama” album released last year.

Breakthrough songwriter honors went to the Vines frontman Craig Nicholls. Savage Garden’s “I Knew I Loved You” was lauded as the most performed Australian work overseas, while Five for Fighting’s “Superman” was the most performed foreign work in Oz. Disco Montego’s “Beautiful” won dance track.
