Muchmusic USA has added “Kung Faux” to its Friday night lineup.
Series melds hip-hop music and comic dialogue to old chopsocky pics. Blending process is analogous to the sampling technique in hip-hop music.
“We’ve taken existing product and remixed it with a healthy sample of pop culture to create a new genre that we call ‘dubtitled,’ ” said Mic Neumann, director of Tommy Boy Films.
Series will launch April 4 at 9:30 p.m. as part of net’s Fuse Friday sked. It will follow irreverent skein “Behind the Music That Sucks.”
“Kung Faux” is produced by Tommy Boy Films, the TV and film arm of music label Tommy Boy, whose artists have included Queen Latifah, Coolio and De La Soul. This is shingle’s first foray into film and TV.
