Fox Entertainment Group’s Fox Music Publishing has expanded its subpublishing deal with EMI Music Publishing U.K. to include several new overseas territories, the companies said Tuesday.
Under terms of the deal, EMI will handle subpublishing duties in Japan, Latin America and South Africa. The British publishing giant already represents Fox in the U.K., France, Germany, Scandinavia and the Benelux region.
Among Fox projects to be covered under the pact are the “X-Men” sequel “X2: X-Men United” and the Ewan McGregor/Renee Zellweger romantic comedy “Down With Love.” EMI also will handle music for Fox TV series such as “The Simpsons” and “24.”
“We have the ability to exploit our own extensive catalogs in major film and TV projects, as well as growing the Fox businesses in a number of new and emerging media,” said Jonathan Channon, EMI’s senior veep of film, TV and media. Deal “puts us in an extremely strong position, particularly in the area of synchronization.”
