U Music inks four acts

Co. signs rap, rock groups, songwriter, duo

LONDON — Universal Music Publishing announced Thursday that it has signed high-profile artists Big Brovaz, the Flaming Lips, Butterfly Boucher and Junior Senior.

South London rap group Big Brovaz (Sony Records) has signed via Shalit Global Music for world representation. Its debut album, “Nu Flow,” made it into the top 10 in the U.K. and is expected to turn platinum, while the “Nu Flow” debut single has made it into the top 10 in more than 15 countries.

The Flaming Lips (Warner Bros.) have inked a deal with Universal for the world excluding North America. Their last two albums, “The Soft Bulletin” and “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots,” have been critical and college radio favorites.

Australian singer-songwriter Butterfly Boucher is with Interscope Records. Based in Nashville, she will release her debut album later this year.

Danish duo Junior Senior had a huge hit with single “Move Your Feet,” climbing to No. 3 in the U.K. with sales of more than 350,000.
