BUENOS AIRES — Argentine helmer-scribe Santiago Carlos Oves has begun lensing “Conversaciones con mama” (Conversations with Mother), a drama starring veteran actress Concepción “China” Zorrilla de San Martín and Eduardo Blanco (“Son of the Bride”).
Oves, who won best director at the 1996 Bogota Film Festival for “El Verso” (The Verse), is producing the $630,000 project with Carlos Piwowarski, Luisa Matienzo and Pascual Condito.
Scripted by Oves, “Conversations” concerns a 50-year-old man who is forced to sell his mother’s home after he loses his job. But his mother, 82, has a boyfriend, and they won’t move out.
Veteran actor Ulises Dumont (“Gangs from Rosario,” “The Same Love, the Same Rain”) co-stars.
Pic is set for release in September, with domestic and international sales handled by co-producer Pascual Condito’s distribution companies Primer Plano Film Group and Orler.
