The country’s first Imax theater will open in Prague today, operated by Israel-based I.T. Intl. Theaters, which already has three Imax screens in Poland and plans to build another three or four by 2005, as well as others in Hungary and Greece.
Patrice Rochas, Imax general di-rector for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said the partnership with I.T. Intl. Theaters covered all Central European territories except Russia, the Baltics and Slovakia. “The regions vary dramatically,” Rochas said. “We’ll focus on the best possible sites.”
Since moving into Central Europe five years ago, I.T. has shifted its focus, with 70% of its screens now outside Israel. It is aiming for 500 screens within the next two to three years.
