Fox 2000 has scored the Sean McGinly spec script “Mulligan,” a comedy about a portly pigskin-loving man who tries to become a field goal kicker for the Washington Redskins. Richard Gladstein’s FilmColony will produce.
McGinly wrote and directed the indie pic “2 Days,” starring Paul Rudd, Donal Logue and Josh Leonard, which is now being shopped for distribution.
“Mulligan” tells the story of a former phenom who seemed to have pro potential when as a high schooler he booted a 50-yard field goal. At 30, he decides to try out for the Skins, a pursuit ridiculed by his local townsfolk.
CAA sold the project, which FilmColony’s Geoff Clark brought in. Fox 2000 exec Peter Kang will oversee it.
Best known for producing “The Cider House Rules” and “The Bourne Identity,” Gladstein is producing the Marc Forster-directed “Neverland” and Ed Solomon-directed “Levity” starring Billy Bob Thornton, Morgan Freeman, Kirsten Dunst and Holly Hunter.
