Veteran Brazilian thesp Fernanda Montenegro (“Central Station”) and her daughter Fernanda Torres will topline helmer An-drucha Waddington’s “A Casa de Areia” (The House Of Sand).
Pic is a $3.8 million co-production of Conspiracao Filmes (of which Waddington is a founding member), LC Barreto and Columbia TriStar, which will also distribute the pic.
Script, by Elena Soarez (“Me You Them”), centers around the relationship of a mother and daughter who live in an isolated house built on beach dunes.
Torres is a well-regarded thesp in her own right, having won the Actress Palme D’Or in 1986 for “Love Me Forever or Never.”
Waddington aims to begin the 10-week lensing in 2004 on location in the Lencois Maranhenses reserve in Northern Brazil.
